For me, the perfect poolside/beach reads are either fun and bantery romances that I can’t put down, contemporary YA with that perfect summer feel or, if I’m lucky, both. The ten listed here are some of my most loved summer reads.

What I Thought Was True by Huntley Fitzpatrick: A perfect summer setting with perfectly developed characters and SHIIIIIIIP.

When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon: A quick read that is full of charm, adorable romance and lovable characters.

The Hating Game by Sally Thorne: THE MOST PERFECT BANTERY ROMANCE TO EVER ROMANCE. This book is actually flawless and a perfect read for a sun drenched summer day.

The Distance Between Us by Kasie West: A quick read that is sweet, filled with the swoons and a perfect amount of drama to keep things entertaining.

The Art of Lainey by Paula Stokes: Another perfect summer romance contemporary. The characters in this novel are some of my all time favorites and it also contains one of the hottest kiss scenes ever. There is a ton of drama which I personally love in my beach reads, a ton of character growth and also Micah. Everybody deserves a Micah.

How to Repair a Mechanical Heart by J.C. Lillis: So far this list is way too straight but HELLO LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT MY FAVORITE GAY AF SUMMER ROADTRIP STORY. FANDOM. SHIPPY GOODNESS. ADORABLE FANBOYS REALIZING THEY ARE IN LOOOOOOOOOOOVE. I love this book a whole lot and it also has a wonderful companion novel so idk maybe BUY THEM BOTH FOR YOUR NEXT POOLSIDE READING TRIP AND THANK ME LATER

Once and for All by Sarah Dessen: No summer reading list is complete with a Sarah Dessen book (or two) and her newest is absolutely perfect for beach reading. Easily in the top three of her best novels, Once and for All is a perfect blend of romance, summer shenanigans, wedding planning drama and bittersweet character growth.

Golden by Jessi Kirby: Everything about this book feels like summer to me and it has so many things that make for a perfect summer read. Amazing friendships, an absolutely adorable love interest, a mystery to be solved, a road trip and so. many. emotions.

Bet Me by Jennifer Crusie: Another perfect and banter filled romance. The characters are excellently developed, the writing is entertaining, the swoon moments are super swoony and it’s also the book I most recommend for people who love The Hating Game so if you love that one you definitely want to read this too.

Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen: Last but not least is the best Sarah Dessen novel. SUMMER BEACH SETTING. NOCTURNAL BIKE RIDES. ROMANCE WITH A CAPITAL R O M A N C E. Amazing friendships and so many feels and ugh I love this book like it is my child
