Leader of the most powerful army in the heavens, Zacharel has been deemed nearly too dangerous, too ruthless--and if he isn't careful, he'll lose his wings. But this warrior with a heart of ice will not be deterred from his missions at any cost...until a vulnerable human tempts him with a carnal pleasure he's never known before.

Accused of a crime she did not commit, Annabelle Miller has spent four years in an institution for the criminally insane. Demons track her every move, and their king will stop at nothing to have her. Zacharel is her only hope for survival, but is the brutal angel with a touch as hot as hell her salvation--or her ultimate damnation?

Apparently I am one of the few people who have not read Gena’s Lords of the Underworld series, and after reading Wicked Nights I can see that I have completely deprived myself of here genius. Zacharel was one of those creamsicle popsicles I use to love as a kid. Hard and cold on the outside but soft and extra sweet on the inside, and I loved him about as much as I did those popsicles as a kid. If only it was possible to see if he tasted just a good. Yep I definitely had that kind of relationship with Zacharel. If you just cringed at my completely appropriate suggestion to a fictional character, you read the book and tell me Zacharel didn’t leave you a little hot and bothered.

What is it about Zacharel that just made him oh so delicious? Let’s review:

  1. He is honest to a fault.
  2. He is bad ass with a FLAMING sword. Yep that’s right the sword is on fire.
  3. He knows what he wants and works to get that.
  4.  He is surface of the sun hot.

Does this make me shallow? Weak? Sex-craved? Maybe. Do I care? Nope, not one bit. But since you seem to care let me explain.

Most people who know me will tell you without hesitation that I am brutally honest. I will tell you the truth no matter what. That is just the kind of person I am. I truly believe it is better to tell you the truth upfront and hurt you a little bit than for you to find out later on down the road and be devastated. Zacharel was just like that, and that is something I admire in another person (even a fictional one).  It wasn’t all just Zacharel that made me love this book so much. If Zacharel made me hot and bothered, then Annabelle made me want to run out the house at 2 in the morning in my pj’s and kick some ass. I loved the book the minute she kicked demonic ass while tied to a chair, in the middle of a therapy session. Yes, that is the definition of “badassness”. Annabelle is my new favorite kick ass heroine. Smart, brave, stubborn as a mule, bent but never broken and still has the ability to be human. I don’t consider myself to be super woman but I’m not exactly weak either; but I know that if I would have endured half the things she had in such a short span of time I would have broken into a million pieces. I loved that she felt her emotions but wouldn’t let her past decide her future, and it was remarkable to watch the love she and Zacharel have grow. I will seriously count down the days until I can read about Thane and the other entire kick ass angel’s in the books to follow.
