Want to dip your toes into diversity but aren’t sure where to start? These are a few recommendations from the twitterverse, goodreads, Dahlia Adler’s awesome author website and YAInterrobang. I’ve sorted them by genre for your convenience! Click on the image to be taken to the GoodReads page!
Contemporary/Realistic Fiction
Thriller/Mystery
Fantasy
Sci-Fi
Historical Fiction
Just a small note: I have not read all of these titles so if you feel anything in this list for any reason should be removed (i.e. harmful representation, inaccurate genre sorting, etc) don’t hesitate to contact me!

Have you read any of these? Let’s discuss in the comments!
I have read a few of them, and quite a bunch of them are in my TBR pile for this month, so I hope I’ll get to as many of them as possible! And once those are read, I’ll be adding more to the TBR pile for sure!
The Fire Horse Girl is so freaking fun and covers a part of history that I haven’t seen discussed at all! Jade Moon also has a most excellent voice! It’s a must read! 😀
There’s a few books on here that are new to me, so I’ll have to go check them out!
Yay! Let me know which ones you add to your TBR! 😀
Just added Song of Blood and Stone and The Fire Horse Girl to my TBR! 😀
Woohoo!!
Thank you so much for the shoutout and for including UtL here – I love love love this list! And I did not know Padma Venakatraman had another book out – her covers are so gorgeous!
Thanks for sharing! I loved UtL so I mean, it had to be on this list! And yes, her covers are amazing!!
I bought a few of these a while ago I just haven’t read them yet like: Adaptation, and To the Boys. Ember in the Ashes is fantastic though!
I’m definitely adding a few of these to my TBR.
I loved the list of the books, there’s a few on that list that I’ve picked that I’m going to try and pick up this month, and see if I can’t get at least one or two of them read. I was a little sad to see that there weren’t that many NA books on there, like Seth and Greyson by Jessica Sorensen. It’s a fantastic book. 🙂
I don’t read/know of a lot of NA which is why it’s not on there but I think I’ll start to dip my toes into it which is when I’ll spotlight all of those books!
Man, so many amazing books on this list. I’ll Give You The Sun is one of my favorite books this year. It is so good. How it went down has been on my TBR forever. Great recommendations!
Great list! I’ve read some of these and I want to read a lot of them! Though I’m a tad disappointed Simon vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli, my favorite book of the year and possibly all-time, isn’t anywhere on this list. 🙁
I have read that one and I do love it!! I just tried to make the list with some titles people may have yet to read or just didn’t know were diverse.
