Stop & Chat is a weekly discussion post here at Read. Sleep. Repeat. where we talk about what ever tickles my fancy!
So I was sitting on my porch the other day when I was asked “how do you keep it interesting?!”. Now of course said question came from someone who does NOT have the unpredictable chaos of a kindergarten attending four year old, but I still turned and answered:
“Well I’m more of a home body anyway so I don’t crave face to face interaction, and I have my books which give me all kinds of excitement, and I have my blog that keeps me somewhat social.”
Instead of said person just say “oh ok, that’s cool” they instead replied with:
“everything you just said but blogging sounds really boring, and even blogging has to get boring right?! I mean you type and read then type and read over and over! Where is the variety?!”.
By that point I was already annoyed with the bugs and a person talking that I just smiled said see you later and went inside. But as I sat down I did question, how other bloggers add that does of variety into their blog.
Personally I’ve added variety to my blog via:
- Stop & Chat Saturday’s. What better way to add variety on a blog where I mostly write, than to get other people to write on it?!
- Reading After Dark. This is little “umph” is my baby. Through Reading After Dark I’m able to showcase some of the more mature things I read, and show that yes I love YA but I enjoy a good steamy read too!
- TBR Takedown. While not my most successful idea, the TBR Takedown, was meant to include non-blogging book lovers to my current and future reads.
But for me, variety isn’t exactly something I strive for, but something thats happens solely because of my tiny attention span. But I’m curious, what do you do to add that spice of life to your blog?
