Today’s Stop & Chat continues my blogoversary’s “looking back” theme!
The Evolution of Your Blog
Read. Sleep. Repeat. has gone through so many changes! Not just aesthetic ones but content changes too. I wish I had screenshots of my various changes but I didn’t have the foresight to get photographic evidence of my embarrassing era. But that won’t stop me!
When I first started blogging I had NO schedule. Not even a loose idea of what I wanted to post or when. I had 3 reviews (all which were HORRIBLE) ready to go, I had NO idea what a meme was, I did have a twitter (with 2 followers, one was my sister, who then unfollowed me) and I had a FaceBook which I was totally lost on how to operate. To put it simple I was a ginormous mess and I feel all of the shame.
But a few weeks later I discovered memo’s. This was NOT a good discovery. I decided I wanted to do Stacking the Shelves and Showcase Sunday and Waiting on Wednesday and Feature & Follow AND Top Ten Tuesday. Yes. I was one of those people.
It took a while but a few months later, I cut a few memes, switched to WordPress and changed my blog theme to a really bright yellow and grey theme. Like, REALLY bright. It was so bright that I had to dim my computer screen just to keep from getting a headache. I was still trying way too hard and numbers were the reason I blogged. Which of course is the road to Epic Fail Land.
But, things started to change. People actually started to listen to my crazy talk. I started having fun with twitter folks. And I FINALLY stopped trying to be those big blogs I idolized. I was coming into my own, and Read. Sleep. Repeat. became more than just my blog, it became one of my favorite things to do. I started to ignore my numbers, cut out more meme’s and picked up books that I wanted to read. Not just books that everyone else was reading. And you know what, it was the best fucking change ever.
And now, one year later, I have a cool schedule I’m proud of, friends that make the crappy stuff worth it, numbers that are solid but not my focus and connects with publishers that I never could have dreamed of. To top it off this is only my 1st year! Imagine next year. Think of the growth I still have to go through. The mistakes I’m going to make. The witty and corny things I’ll say! This year has been amazing and as Read. Sleep. Repeat. continues to evolve I’m proud to have you guys along for the trip. 2013 was fun but 2014…well 2014:
