When I first started blogging a little over a year ago, I did it to promote my favorite fantabulous author, M.R. Merrick. (He doesn’t know that, but now it’s out there so there is no turning back)
When I started my blog I had never heard of the world of book blogging. Talk about entering uncharted waters! So of course I had never read one, before I actually started one. Of course I had an abundance of time. I was on summer vacation from college so I had plenty of time to dedicate to figuring it all out. Looking back I wish I had done my research before I jumped in head first. Things would have been different. But then again I might have lost my nerve and never started my blog. Either way I had a goal. To promote a fabulous author that I knew most people hadn’t heard of.
So I started blogging, tweeting, chatting and working my hiney off to get known. And to promote all of my favorite authors. Now, I still don’t consider myself as known, but I realized that worrying about getting known isn’t going to get you anywhere. So I redoubled my focus and put it back where it should be…the awesome authors that entertain me and help me travel to other worlds. Those people that help me escape my life and live through another.
Once I got back to that, I was happy and my blog was happy.
There are a lot of authors out there, Indie and professionally published; and they all deserve to be recognized. But unfortunately, one blogger can’t do it all. No matter how hard I try. There just isn’t enough hours in the day to read all the books, do all the reviews, interview all the authors, and spotlight all the awesomeness that abounds out there in the big book world. BUT what I can do is support those authors that rock my world! Both big and small. Known and unknown.
To this day I will do ANYTHING for an author I love. Buy their books, read their books, review their books, pimp their books, you name it I will do it. I love authors. If it wasn’t for amazing authors I wouldn’t be blogging. If it wasn’t for the little unknown authors I wouldn’t be blogging. Someone has to route for the underdog. Why not another underdog?
First off thank you Danielle for helping me celebrate my blogoversary! Second this post is everything I wanted, and then some. It’s so amazing to interact with genuine people and that is exactly what you are! Thank you. 🙂
