This week’s topic is Top Ten Unique Books. These books can be unique for any reason: setting, character, point of view, etc. Here are our picks!

Top Ten Most Unique Books We’ve Read

Shelly’s Picks

Me and Earl and the Dying Girl

Me and Earl and the Dying Girl by Jesse Andrews

This book is just freakin’ awesome. It’s a funny and very entertaining cancer novel. I know most novels with cancer seem sad and maybe a bit hopeless but the main character (Greg) in the book is so awesome. I can’t even express my love for this book.

The Tyrant's Daughter

The Tyrant’s Daughter by C.J. Carleson

Betrayal, family problems and the C.I.A. all clash in this awesome novel. This book is seriously underrated and the story itself makes it unique. You all need to go get a copy RIGHT NOW!

Dangerous GirlsDangerous Girls by Abigail Haas

This book is honestly one of the most awesome and thrilling mysteries I’ve ever read. I literally dropped my jaw at the ending and I am in serious need of a re-read.

The Marbury Lens (The Marbury Lens, #1)The Marbury Lens by Andrew Smith

I’m not sure how I can even describe the awesomeness and uniqueness of this book. There is a creepy and different realm, a lot of bad stuff happening, misplaced romance (but in a good way, I think), true friendship and loads of swearing. I need to get my hands on the sequel but this book is so damn good.

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (Miss Peregrine's Peculiar Children, # 1)

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs

The premise is awesome, it’s also kind-of-sorta historical fiction and the story is also portrayed through various vintage photographs that the author collects. The sequel is also just as awesome.

These Broken StarsThese Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman & Meagan Spooner

Technically this was my first “space opera” but I can’t imagine they get better than this! Kaufman & Spooner have not only given us a vivd and rich world but characters that develop and grow and have so many layers an onion would be jealous!

SteelheartSteelheart by Brandon Sanderson

Everything I’ve ever know or thought I’ve known about “super heroes” was blown to bits with this one! Sanderson has such an eloquent way of taking everything we thing we know and want to believe is true and saying “bwahaha screw that!”.

AngelfallAnglefall by Susan Ee

There aren’t enough words in the flipping English dictionary to describe why Angelfall was so uniquely awesome! Ee took a topic we’ve all heard over and over again and completely blew our minds by showing us an alternative. It’s like she knew we weren’t using our imagination to it’s fullest extent and decided to help push us to use it better.

Uninvited HRUninvited by Sophie Jordan

What I loved most about Uninvited was how Jordan took something that actually felt somewhat plausible and scared the hell out of me. She took the fact that fear truly can be a powerful weapon and she twisted an everyday world to show us what can happen when fear consumes a nation. I LOVED IT!

Daughter of Smoke and BoneDaughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor

I’m sure you’re going to see this beauty on plenty of list today but it really does deserve a freaking award for it’s uniqueness. The world, the characters, THE WRITING! Everything about this book was unique and pretty kick ass all at once.
