Hello everyone, this week we’re happy to present Algonquin! (all this information comes from their website!)
While Algonquin books all seem great, we’re going to be focusing on their imprint, Algonquin Books for Young Readers!
Algonquin Young Readers is a new imprint that features books for readers seven to seventeen. From short illustrated novels for the youngest independent readers to timely and topical crossover young adult fiction, what ties our books together are unforgettable characters, absorbing stories, and superior writing.
Our imprint is dedicated to publishing works of the same literary merit and enduring quality that are the hallmarks of our parent imprint, Algonquin Books of Chapel Hill. Founded in 1983, Algonquin Books started as a small Southern house but quickly garnered national attention for publishing now-renowned authors such as Julia Alvarez, Kaye Gibbons, Robert Morgan, and Lee Smith. In 1989, Algonquin was acquired by Workman Publishing, one of the largest independent publishing companies in the United States. Algonquin is recognized internationally as a literary publishing house with numerous fiction and nonfiction bestsellers and award winners. From Water for Elephants to Silver Sparrow, Wicked Bugs to Last Child in the Woods, Algonquin’s books continue to stimulate, entertain, and enrich legions of fans.
Even though Algonquin is a smaller publisher they have some pretty BIG books on they shelves! And Shelly and I have had the pleasure of reading some and drooling over others in anticipation! Including:
