For everyone who follows me on twitter and instagram you may have noticed that last week I went on a trip!
That’s right! I WENT TO SEE SHELLY!!!!!!!
And in case you didn’t know Shelly lives in Canada! So I got to take my very first trip to Canada AND I got to see my best friend all in one go! And, in true Shelly form, she had a ton of things planned for us.
Friday:
First we went to the Mable’s Fables:
It was MAGICAL guys! Books EVERYWHERE. Knick knacks and murals and all the author signatures. I bought 2 books from here:
and they were the first of MANY.
I should mention that after Mable’s Fables I got a parking ticket -_- Apparently “No Standing” means “No Parking” and I didn’t know dammit! I DIDN’T KNOW! But bitterness aside Mable’s Fables was only our first stop on Friday! Shelly and her sis (did I not mention Shelly has a super awesome twin sis?! Because she definitely does!) took me to the Royal Ontario Museum. They had this Egypt exhibit that was beyond amazing and SO MANY DINOSAURS!
And, because we are true book nerds, we finished day one with a stop at Indigo! So..two books stores in one day…..WE REGRET NOTHING! I snagged:
And with a 4 hour drive, 2 tourist attractions and 2 book stores behind day one was OVER!
Saturday:
On Saturday we woke up at the butt crack of dawn to tackle the day; which started with a trip to downtown Toronto and Ripley’s Aquarium.
Have I mentioned how BEAUTIFUL Toronto is?! Parking ticket aside, the city was great to me.
We went to the CN Tower too, which is the 2nd largest building in the world and though it was too cloudy to see (boooo) I still had fun. The elevator reminded me a lot of the one in Willy Wonka….minus the smashing through the ceiling part.
Then, because it was necessary, Shelly and I made our way to BMV bookstore. Two stories of discounted books and comics?! YES PLEASE!! I managed to be a good girl and only grab:
Obviously this much awesome before 3pm required a nap, so Shelly and I headed back to her house (which is GORGEOUS) and napped before our next stop!
Not the clearest pic (I was dancing darn it!) but we went to a free concert where I got to experience the FIERCE that is Adore Delano. I’ve never watched RuPaul’s Drag Race but I am definitely going to start! Not only was it a great show, I got to experience my very first concert with my best friend in Toronto’s Pride District. It was seriously one of the best parts of my trip.
Sunday:
WONDERLAND!!!! Shelly, who is not a fan of rollercoasters, thought it would be fun if we went to an amusement park….I don’t understand her logic but I HAD SO MUCH FUN!!!! For some reason there weren’t any lines so we managed to ride 5 rides back to back in an hour or so. Which, on the one hand was nothing short of amazing, but on the other hand we got sick after the 5th ride and left because SICK!! And the only way to get better was to eat barbecue (AH-MAZING) followed by SHOPPING! We went to a mall so big I instantly died and went to heaven. In my excitement though I didn’t take pictures (bad tourist) but I bought SO MUCH PRETTY STUFF! And I even grabbed shoes for Ayanna because Vans was having the best sale ever.
Monday:
My last day was obviously the saddest but we stuffed so much fun into it I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. We spent the day at Niagara Falls and the Clifton Hills area. There was so much fun crammed in this one area I will most certainly be planning a trip here again, just so I can go to more attractions! There were wax museums, food, mini golf, indoor water parks, rainforest cafe (next time Shelly!), a giant Ferris Wheel, and of course the falls. We were on a time-table so we didn’t do ALL the things but we did visit the falls, play indoor wizard mini golf (it was scorching out!), and we ate a burger WRAPPED in a pizza!
But, best of all on Monday we went to the BookOutlet store.
I gave myself a 10 book/ $50 limit….Shelly and her sis had similar limits but reality is a cruel and beautiful bitch:
I bought 28 books….TWENTY-EIGHT. But Shelly and sis bought almost 40! And best of all…..I spent UNDER 100 bucks! I got these pretties:
And I have NO regrets! Some of these have been on my TBR list for ages and each one was basically under $3!! LIKE HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE?!
But best of all, I got to spend four days with my best friend and her family and there is nothing I would trade that experience for. They welcomeKd me into their home, feed me well, listened to my crazy ramblings, and were truly the nicest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. Thank you Shelly! Thank you K! Thank you all so much.
Hi, I’m Becca, and I’ve tagged you to do the OTP book tag – https://shihtzubookreviews.wordpress.com/2015/07/24/otp-tag-bitches/

AHHH I’m so happy you got to go and see Shelly. It looks like an amazing trip <3
It was seriously the best trip ever! So happy to have been able to go 🙂
Wish I could have met up with you again, Octavia, but so glad you had such a great time! I need to get to that Book Outlet!
Also, which mall did you go to? Just curious…
We went to Vaughan Mills! It’s a great outlet mall but for Octavia (because of the conversion rate), everything was like 10x cheaper anyway. She had a blast, I was worried about going broke 😉
YAY! Looks like you had an amazing time! I think a wall devoted to author signatures is definitely great use of a wall. Wish I could do that in my house! LOL.
Ripley’s Aquarium looks like a fun place to visit!
That book haul!! So impressive!
Not just ONE wall, ALL the walls in this room AND the ceiling! It was glorious! 😀
That’s awesome Octavia!! I’m glad you finally got to go to Canada, and I’ve been wanting to go to a brick and mortar Book Outlet. I think I would have died on top of the CN building…I have this thing about heights, where I think I can handle it and then suddenly I’m curled up on the ground hyperventilating.
It sounds like the perfect trip!!
The CN Tower was cloudy you couldn’t even tell you were up super high! But the elevator was pretty cool. And you MUST make your way to CA for BookOutlet alone! That place was magical.
Thanks for sharing your experience with us, loved the pics! =)
It sounds like an AMAZING trip! You crammed a ton of stuff in, too. I love Toronto (I live 2 hours east of there). The Royal Ontario Museum really is incredible, isn’t it? And the CN Tower! I’d seen it my whole life, but only went up a few years ago and it was so cool. You definitely have to go back to Clifton Hill! We usually go in the winter – it’s crazy cold, but then it’s cold everywhere, so we figure why not have fun? Plus since it’s off season, you can get a hotel for like $25 a night, which is insane, and all the stores have amazing sales to draw in the few tourists around. There are NO crowds, so you can go through all the attractions without being crammed in with a ton of other people. Anyway. so glad you had a good time! 🙂
