Mini Review – The Billionaire Bargain –

It was a deal made in the boardroom and sealed in the bedroom.

It all seems so simple: pretend to be his fianceé, his company share prices stabilize, and everyone wins. It’s all just for show.

So why does he keep kissing me? And why do I let him? Grant Devlin is the bane of my existence — not the man of my dreams. But now the lines are getting blurred, and between the kissing and the champagne (and did I mention the kissing?) I’m getting way too comfortable as the future Mrs Devlin.

Something’s got to give, and it better not be my self-control…

Ok I pretty much did this to myself. I read book one and DID NOT like it. I mean, sure it had it’s moments but overall I think it was maybe 2 stars. So why then, you ask, did I think it was a good life decision to pick up the second book in this series of books I did not like from the beginning? BECAUSE I’M CRAZY OK?! I don’t know what possessed me to buy it but I do know I am not going to pick up the next. Nope. Not gonna happen!

The characters, while full of life and funny at times were the only think I sort of liked but it wasn’t enough to save the story which was boring, annoying, and done one too many times.

In all honesty I’m a sucker for a good billionaire story. Girl meets boy, girl likes boy, boy needs marriage of convenience and BAM! I’m hooked. But with this one I just felt it was running one way but then would stop and run a completely different way. Like the author just wasn’t sure where it should go and how it should end. First Lacey wants to do whatever it takes for Grant (our billionaire) to keep his company and turn around it’s image. The next Lacey is literally ripping that goal to shreds? What even! Look, I understand what a conscious is. I understand the weight of guilt. But once you get so far into something you have to push all of that into a drawer and just say to hell with it! It’s like those stories you see about people running away the morning of their wedding. You had MONTHS; maybe even YEARS, to back out and you wait until it’s go time? You wait until all this money is spent, people have flown in, dresses have been purchased, food is set out and THEN decide to back out? You’re an idiot and I wish you a slow firey death you dumbass. But I’m getting off topic! My point is this is what this series feels like thus far. Sure I know that eventually, they’ll fall hopelessly in love with each other and get married “for real” but it’s just too much craziness in between. So. I’m tapping out. I’m quitting.
