This review will probably be short, because I’m not sure how to adequately express how powerful this novel is any better than all the other great reviews out there.
The Hate U Give is about Starr, a teen who witnesses the death of her friend, Khalil, at the hands of a cop. The novel follows Starr’s journey as she struggles with what to do and whether she can keep her two worlds (her school life and her home life) separate.
The Hate U Give is honestly a masterpiece, I am unsure of how to describe it other than passing a copy into every single person’s hand with a hiss that they they should read it. Starr’s voice was so clear and her story was powerful while reading. I just think you need to listen to everyone (and me!) telling you to read it.
This is one hell of a book. Read it.
