Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books I’d Mash Together

This topic was not as easy as it sounds but it sure was fun to think about which of my favorite books plots, worlds and characters would work well together.

The Only Thing Worse Than Me Is You by Lily Anderson & Foolish Hearts by Emma Mills:

Two different Shakespeare retellings with great friend groups, wit, banter & tons of chemistry. Combined they could only be better.

Uprooted by Naomi Novik & Wintersong by S. Jae-Jones: Both of these novels have lush, beautiful writing, strong heroines and a fairy tale feeling. I think they’d do well together.

The Fixer by Jennifer Lynn Barnes & The Naturals by Jennifer Lynn Barnes: Barnes’ writes amazing thrillers with fantastic characters and brilliant plots and these two worlds must meet.

Nowhere But Home by Liza Palmer & The City Baker’s Guide to Country Living by Louise Miller: Two of my favorite adult contemporaries with similar themes about finding your place in the world / home. PLUS THEY ARE FOOD FOCUSED AND I AM ALL ABOUT THAT. These would make a great mash up.

Every Breath by Ellie Marney & A Study in Charlotte by Brittany Cavallaro: Two very different Sherlock Holmes retellings that would balance each other very well if meshed.

Open Road Summer by Emery Lord & Just Visiting by Dahlia Adler: Strong female friendships, road trips, messy flawed characters & romances: A PERFECT COMBINATION

Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers & Scarlet by A.C. Gaughen: Two amazing historical stories with bad ass heroines that would make a deadly combination and men who really should know better.

Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr & The Darkest Part of the Forest by Holly Black: Books starring the fae are things that I love, and these two gritty stories about humans colliding with the fae world are my favorites and between the writing styles & characterization they would mesh so well together.

Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea by April Genevieve Tucholke & The Graces by Laure Eve: When I first read The Graces, I described it as The Craft meets Between the Devil & the Deep Blue Sea so this was an obvious mash up choice. The writing style & settings just work.

The Queen’s Rising by Rebecca Ross & Song of the Lioness by Tamora Pierce: Honestly I have no strong reason about why I’d like to see these stories mashed up except I think Alanna and Brienna would be a boss combination.
