Oh gosh… why am I writing this post again? Let’s hope that this personal challenge doesn’t flop!
Anyway, I recently redid a lot of my bookshelves and cleaned up my TBR! As you can see, I have a lot of unread books but not as many as I thought. I know on GoodReads and other platforms, it always seems unmanageable to actually finish a TBR but I think it’d be nice to either read all of my unread books or reach a point where I accept that there’s some books I own that I will never get to, in which case I should DNF, donate/give away those books.
If we wanted to do this math-wise, I estimate it would take me about 3 years to read all my books *screaming*. If this interests anyone, I may do this as a monthly/bi-monthly update! I’m curious to see if documenting the process will motivate me more and whether I can get away with not acquiring more books. I’ve been on a solid book buying ban for a while so I’m hoping this will continue that!
Some Rules/Opinions For Myself
- I shouldn’t pressure myself over this challenge, that’s the fun part about making a self-guided challenge!
- Since this list includes comic books/manga, the number of books I own will fluctuate significantly once I start reading those and as I get some more
- This list only includes physical books so if I started counting everything on my kindle I’m sure this number would be much higher
- I am a mood reader so I won’t be making a schedule but I will try and prioritize friends’ recommendations
- This list does include ARCs so I will try and review those as well! I may do reviews for some backlist books but I am not quite sure if there is a demand for those
Have you ever counted how many unread books you own and does that scare you? Am I really trying my luck by trying to make this a series I update?
