Top Ten Tuesday: Series I Don’t Plan to Finish

Posted June 26, 2018 by Angie in Features & Spotlights / 0 Comments

It’s no surprise I’m bad at keeping up with series. I always feel like I HAVE to reread the prior books before I can read the newest installment and if I don’t have the time to do that they tend to get set aside until I do…and then never picked up again. Over the past year I’ve started just buying the books and then waiting until the series’ is finished before I read them, and it’s working fairly well. These series’ though I have lost complete interest in.

All Souls trilogy by Deborah Harkness: This was a “I must reread before finishing” victim. I loved the first two books but just never got around to the finishing and now I’ve lost all interest in ever doing so.

Bloodlines series by Richelle Mead: I LOVED the first three books in this series. But then I went and spoiled myself for book four and lost all interest in ever reading it or any of the following books.

Dark series by Christine Feehan: This series is up to 28 books as of this year. I read the first 15 and I loved them because I am trash and love trash books but at this point things are out of control and I would rather gouge my eyes out than ever read another book written by Feehan.

Dust Lands trilogy by Moira Young: The first book in this series remains one of my all time favorite stories but the second is such complete and utter garbage that even thinking about it now, five years after I read it, I am filled with a blinding rage. So no, definitely no interest in reading the final book.

Shatter Me series by Tahereh Mafi: I LOVED the original trilogy and always will, but I have no interest in seeing the story continued (and ruined from what I’ve heard from my trusted besties).

Darkest Minds trilogy by Alexandra Bracken: This series has a lot of hype, and I loved the first one a great deal but hype kills and between that + my complete lack of desire to touch any kind of dystopian novel this series is basically dead to me.

The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare: I’ll be the first to admit that I enjoyed the hell out of the original trilogy. But it should have died there. Nothing about this series/world or these characters justifies the never ending continuation of this series.

The Winner’s Trilogy by Marie Rutkoski: I KNOW OKAY. I loved the first two books. I did. But the hype (and reading book two over a year before the third published) killed this series for me and now I’ll never be able to read the last one because I just don’t care.

Finishing School series by Gail Carriger: I read the first two in this series and really enjoyed them. But then I discovered the author is kinda a dick and that killed my interest.

Birthright series by Gabrielle Zevin: This is one of those cases where I adored the first two books and the characters so much that I am honestly just afraid to finish it because what if the last book ruins everything? Or worse, what if I reread and don’t love them as much? I’d rather just never know.
